NASHVILLE- Victor Chatman, the man with the voice and the turntables, make special music for his guests at any event. He is celebrating 15 exciting years of Jazz on the Cumberland Concert Series on Sunday, October 18 from 3 p.m. -6 p.m. This celebratory event takes place at Wasioto Park, formerly Cumberland Park, located at 592 S. First Street, in Nashville, next to Nissan Stadium.

Jazz on the Cumberland was created in August 2011 by Founder and Producer Victor Chatman of Victor Chatman Productions, in conjunction with Nashville Metro Parks, with a vision of providing free, quality entertainment to the public. Chatman says, “I have worked all these years in Music City to help make music an enjoyable experience.” According to FourSquare.com Jazz on the Cumberland Concert Series is nationally ranked the #1 destination for Jazz in Music City, Nashville, TN for 12 consecutive years.

Chatman added, “A significant component of this series is the positive impact it has on bringing families and friends together. One of the unique aspects of Jazz on the Cumberland is the opportunity for students to be paired with local, regional and national artists and industry professionals, allowing them to gain valuable hands-on experience, knowledge and exposure to the entertainment and music industry.”

Through these educational partnerships, students have been introduced to programs and career pathways including:

S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Music), Hospitality and Marketing, Digital Design, Live and Studio Sound, Event Planning and Promotions.

Today, more than 90 percent of participating students have successfully entered careers within their respective fields, creating a lasting legacy of workforce development across the nation.

The organization works with the Metro Nashville Public Schools, the Pencil Foundation, Simon Youth Academy, Second Harvest Food Bank and the Academy Partners of Nashville.

“Jazz on the Cumberland is more than a musical event, it’s a dream brought to life through passion, perseverance and a love for the music. I am extremely proud of Victor Chatman, who I watched plant the seed and now see it grow into a success that brings people together to the timeless spirit of Jazz. His vision was the beginning, music became the heart beat and the success belongs to everyone who helped it grow,” said retired director of Metro Parks and Recreation, Roy E. Wilson.

These events were the first concert series at the newly constructed Nashville Cumberland Park in 2011, and has grown into a celebrated Nashville tradition, attracting hundreds of thousands of area residents, tourists and music aficionados from across the United States and beyond.

“Jazz on the Cumberland has become a cornerstone of Nashville’s music, tourism, education and economic development,” said Chatman.
