NASHVILLE, TN — Viola Davis has earned many industry honors and accolades throughout her outstanding career. She’s currently starring in the film “The Woman King.” But last week she received some news that has the potential to put her in a special category: that of being an EGOT winner (someone who’s won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony) award.

Davis found this out when  informed she was being  nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Audio Book Narration, and Storytelling Recording, for her narration of her book, “Finding Me.” She’s facing some formidable competition. Others nominated in the category include EGOT winner Mel Brooks, Jamie Foxx, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Questlove.

According to Entertainment Weekly, she won two Tony Awards, one for her 2001 role in “King Hedley II” and in 2010 for her role in “Fences.” She reprised the same role for Denzel Washington’s 2016 adaptation of “Fences,” earning her an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. Davis’ Emmy came in 2015 when she won for Outstanding Lead Actress for her role in “How to Get Away with Murder.”

Davis may also be in the Oscar race due to the buzz for “The Woman King.”

Davis’ next film is “G20,” in which she’ll play the President of the United States who gets held hostage by terrorists at the G20 Summit. Davis’ character, Taylor Sutton, must “use all of her diplomatic and military skills to protect her family, her other presidents and, of course, the whole planet,” according to the film’s description.
