NASHVILLE, TN — Greater Bethel will host events this weekend, September 8-10, to celebrate outstanding citizens of Nashville, in the Pinnacle Awards ceremony, a Homecoming and Community Day on Saturday, September 9 and culminating with an outstanding worship service on Sunday at Greater Bethel.

Greater Bethel Pastor, Rev. Byron Moore, says, our goal is to positively impact the community.”

These events celebrate, inform and connect this south Nashville church with the greater community.

“The awards were established by Greater Bethel A.M.E. Church to support our communities and to recognize those who have made major contributions in the lives of those who may not have reached their full potential in their endeavors,” said Joe Turner, chair of the three day Bethel community events.

The inaugural Pinnacle of Excellence Awards ceremony, will be Friday, September 8 at 6 pm at the Hilton Inn Franklin, in Cool Springs, located at 601 Corporate Centre Drive.  Four outstanding Nashville professionals will be honored.  Tickets are $125. The Honorees are Dr. Cornelia “Connie” Graves, Medicine; Dr. Dennis Dickerson, Education;  Ellen Lehman, Community Service; and Rep. Justin Jones, Humanities.

Greater Bethel’s Homecoming and Community Day takes place with fun, fellowship and family on the grounds at the church, 1300 South Street.  The event also features the Affordable Connections Program. This program helps the economically marginalized get access to internet. This subsidy program helps households in need get free or low cost internet services.  It also provides a $100.00 discount to buy a tablet or computer.  This takes place from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This service is part of the Black Churches 4 Digital Equity.

The culminating activity takes the events to a crescendo, with the Sunday worship service at 10 am on Sunday, September 10. A prodigy of Greater Bethel, Rev. Dr. Michael Brown, president of Payne Theological Seminary, in Wilberforce, Ohio, will deliver the message.
