MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — MTSU’s Center for Health and Human Services is expanding its diabetes and obesity prevention activities with additional state funding. The Tennessee Department of Health, as part of the Project Diabetes initiative, has provided the center with a three-year, $450,000 grant for its existing “Blue Raiders Drink Up: Healthy Choices for Healthy Students 2.0” program. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency provides the annual free day in hopes of increasing interest in fishing. NASHVILLE, TN — Bryan Ruby is a professional baseball player, a country music singer/songwriter, the founder of a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, and a pioneer for LGBTQ+ representation in sports. He has also made history as the only active professional baseball player who is out as gay. “I’ve always been a baseball guy,” said Ruby, who is currently a member of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes.
