NASHVILLE – Nashville’s city-wide tree planting campaign, Root Nashville, celebrated a significant milestone in late October: the planting of the 20,000th tree since launching three years ago in October of 2018. The milestone tree was part of a canopy restoration project in the Lincoya Hills neighborhood in Donelson, a neighborhood that sustained severe canopy loss from the March 2020 tornado. The planting event was made possible by Ascend Federal Credit Union, who generously funded the planting of 70 trees as part of their own milestone 70th anniversary. (PADUCAH) – Medical students from Meharry Medical College, located in Nashville, Tenn., will gain real-world clinical experience at Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky. starting next January. Mercy Health and Meharry Medical College entered into a clinical affiliation agreement in August that will see third-year medical students complete two to four-week clinical rotations in family medicine, OB/GYN and neurology at Lourdes Hospital. Nashville, TN–Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee announced Monday a $60,000 grant from the Amerigroup Foundation to expand the Food is Medicine program. The grant will fund this initiative at the food bank as it partners with Nashville General Hospital Foundation to support health care staff with the implementation of processes to conduct universal food insecurity screenings and interventions.
