Elected officials will vote on them sometime in November. Governor Brian Kemp could veto the proposed maps but probably won’t. William Richard Thompson died at the age of 85 on Oct. 8, 2021, in his hometown of Nashville, Tennessee. He was a dynamic, outgoing community activist who loved to share his deep knowledge of business, civic affairs and African American folklore and history, William was born the second child, first son, of William and Pauline Cheatham Thompson in Nashville, Tennessee, on May 9, 1936. He was 90.Dr. Meador served as the first executive director of the Meharry-Vanderbilt Alliance (MVA) from 1999 to 2012. Founded in 1999, the Alliance bridges the institutions of Meharry Medical College and Vanderbilt University Medical Center. I was there with other civil rights and religious leaders to call on President Joe Biden to do more to protect voting rights that are under attack.
