NASHVILLE, TN — Although she has won almost every honor imaginable in her spectacular career, until last week there was one award the legendary Gladys Knight had not received.

But that is no longer the case. She is now among the select group of artists to be given a National Medal Of Arts Award. Knight joined Bruce Springsteen and others last week in a White House ceremony, receiving the honor from President Biden.

This follows her receiving last year the Kennedy Center Honors, and these two prestigious awards only provide more luster to one of the greatest careers in music history.

A performer since the age of 8, Gladys Knight and the Pips began to make their mark as soul vocal group stars in the early 60s.

By the time they disbanded in 1989, they had sold millions of singles and albums, while winning three Grammy Awards.

Knight has earned four more as a solo artist, while also doing some occasional acting.

Among the extensive array of Awards, Knight and the Pips are members of both the Rock and Roll and Vocal Grouo Halls of Fame.

Knight in addition has her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
