NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville General Hospital (NGH) completed its second year of the Employee Wellness Program (EWP). This program was established to promote health and wellness within NGH and provide a safe and supportive environment with a dose of healthy competition.
This year NGH is proud to announce the participation of 53 employees across 24 departments for making consistent healthy lifestyle choices. The EWP begins with employees attending the annual EWP Health Fair where they completed a health screening consisting of the following biometrics: bloodwork, blood pressure, body max index, and waist circumference.
After receiving their results and with support from our providers, EWP participants create three wellness goals for the program year. In addition to creating these goals, participants commit to exercising at least three times per week for 30 minutes with elevated heart rate and complete wellness videos and quizzes designed by our own NGH dietitians and exercise specialist.
In this second year, NGH saw a 20% increase in and a total loss of 458 pounds. This is an increase of 133 pounds and a 30% increase in the amount of weight lost compared to the first year.
