Nashville, TN (March 26, 2024) – The Senator Thelma Harper Foundation announced today the 39th Annual “Kids are Special Too” Easter Egg Hunt will be held this Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Metro Police Training Academy, 2715 Tucker Road in Nashville.

The first 500 children to arrive will receive a gift bag filled with goodies and all children present at the start will have the chance to hunt for over 5,000 Easter eggs. Hidden among the eggs will be over 75  prize eggs.

The annual event was begun by the late Nashville State Senator Thelma Harper and has continued for over three decades. Senator Harper passed away in 2021 after serving as the longest tenured female state senator and the first black female state senator in Tennessee history.

“It’s deeply moving and exciting to see how the community, our sponsors and our local leaders have continued to support Mom’s annual event,” said Linda Harper, Senator Harper’s daughter.  It’s an honor to continue Mom’s traditon of having family fun within the community. Mom loved seeing the children from the community grow up and bring their children and grandnchildren to her Easter egg hunt. It’s a part of her legacy that continues bring the the joy to the community and our family.”

In addition to the egg hunt, the event will feature music, train rides, a Kids Zone play area and a very special appearance by the Easter Bunny. To learn more, go to www.kidsarespecialtoo.com
