Virtual Community Discussions Supported Through Nissan Foundation

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) – YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee is kicking off its Stand Against Racism lunch and learn series on Thursday, Sept. 30, 2021 with a webinar that explores the inadequacies of funding in the realms of K-12 and higher education. In Shortchanging Our Students, education and legal experts will discuss the impact of these Tennessee funding schemes and how they disproportionately impact students who are poor, Black and brown, English-language learners, and those with disabilities. We’ll learn how to collectively combat the injustice and systemic racism in our educational institutions.

WHO: Charles Grant, Shareholder & Veteran Litigator – Baker Donelson Gini Pupo-Walker, MNPS School Board Member and TN Director – The Education Trust Kiah Albritton, Policy & Communications Associate – The Education Trust Sharon K. Roberson, President & CEO – YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee

    WHEN: Thursday, Sept. 30 12pm – 1pm CST

HOW: Join the virtual rally by registering via ZOOM here or visit www.ywcanashville.com/stand.

MORE: Now more than ever, we must take a Stand Against Racism wherever and whenever it happens. This is the first in a series of community conversations on racism. This series is made possible thanks to a grant from the Nissan Foundation.

For more than 120 years, YWCA Nashville & Middle Tennessee has helped women, girls and families in Nashville and Middle Tennessee build safer, more self-sufficient lives. YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
