Nashville, Tenn. – On July 28, 2017 sisters Kathy Leslie and Sandra Austin followed their dream of opening a bakery and cafe in their neighborhood of East Nashville. The two, lovingly known as Shugga Kat and Shugga San, were inspired by their mother’s love of cooking both delicious meals and deserts, the location has been preparing enjoyable food for the past year.

Located right in the middle of the Dickerson Pike Corridor, the café is quickly becoming an anchor in the up and coming neighborhood while staying true to the area’s roots.

Their motto is ‘Desert First Please’ and for good reason. Customers can often be seen munching on their cookies, cakes, and brownies before their lunch or dinner is served.

Now as a way to celebrate one year in business, the sisters have decided to make some changes to their menu. While popular items such as the Chicken and Waffles, Shugga Hi Cake Waffle Burger and their Fried Fish Sandwich (Catfish or Whiting) will stay, they are excited about the new editions. The new items will be announced during their One-Year celebration on Saturday the 28th at 7PM – 10PM.

The event will include a live DJ along with food and drink specials and a roll out of the new menu items.

The owners continue to focus on their faith and the backing of community. “God is faithful and true to His promises”, said co-owner Kathy. “Food is always about love”, continued her sister Sandra. “We thank our family, friends and the community for their continued tremendous support!”

To celebrate one year in business with Shugga Hi will be also be providing food & drink specials starting Thursday the 26th through Sunday the 29th. Please visit https://www.facebook.com/events/2172869566292855/ or call 615-928-6576 to learn more.
