NASHVILLE, TN — Since losing a closely contested race in Georgia for the governor’s office, Stacey Abrams has become a national voice fighting against voter suppression, particularly efforts to minimize Black voter turnout and impact. Since that election, Abrams founded Fair Fight Action, an organization that’s taken this fight across the country. Now her efforts are about to be chronicled on film.

Amazon Studios announced Monday that the documentary “All In: The Fight For Democracy” will have both a theatrical and a video debut in September. Select theaters will get the production first on Sept. 9. Then it will be widely released on Amazon Prime Video Sept. 18. The film is directed by Liz Garbus and Lisa Cortés, and produced by Garbus, Cortés, Dan Cogan and Abrams.

The directors released a press statement Monday that was carried on multiple entertainment sites, among them Shadow and Act. “With 100 days left until one of the most important elections in American history, we are thrilled to officially announce “All In: The Fight for Democracy” which will tell a powerful and harrowing story of the fight for the right to vote as well as arm citizens with the tools they need to protect this right, Garbus and Cortest said. “The film will be accompanied by an ambitious and visionary action plan to reach voters and educate them across the nation.”

“Today, we are 100 days out from Election Day – a pivotal moment in our mission to protect our democracy – and we need to come together as a country and make sure every voice and vote is counted,” Abrams added. “The title “All In: The Fight for Democracy” speaks to the importance and necessity that every American has the right to have their voice be heard and their vote counted. We know that if our votes were not important, so many folks wouldn’t be working so hard to take our right to vote away.”

In addition, the filmmakers and Amazon Studios are launching a social impact campaign called #ALLINFORVOTING, which will include organizations, non-profits, corporations, artists, activists, and influencers. Programming will include an online digital action hub, a local grant program to support grassroots organizations, and a “Grow a Voter” educational initiative.
