NASHVILLE, TN — More than 40 Nashville organizations are joining forces to commemorate the centennial of the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution, granting the right for women to vote. NASHVILLE, TN — For the second year in a row, MNPS saw growth in literacy that exceeded the state’s average growth.  At the August 13, 2019 school board meeting, Dr. Paul Changas, Executive Director for Research, Assessment, and Evaluation, reviewed this year’s data with the community.  Most notably, MNPS saw literacy growth and numeracy growth exceeding the state’s average growth, resulting in TVAAS scores of a 4 and 5 respectively.  A 5 is the highest score the state gives a school district for overall growth.  Math scores increased at every grade level this school year, and MNPS’ students scoring “On…

Funeral services for the Reverend Everett Maxwell Rucker, Jr. were held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Allen Temple AME Church in Cincinnati, Ohio.   Rev. Rucker was reared in Nashville and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in music education from Tennessee State University. At TSU, he marched with the Aristocrat of Bands and played gigs with the Spectrum Band. While matriculating at TSU, he was initiated into the Alpha Theta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
