The Rev. C.T. Vivian, a civil rights veteran who worked alongside the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and served as head of the organization co-founded by the civil rights icon, has died.  Vivian died at home in Atlanta of natural causes Friday morning, his friend and business partner Don Rivers confirmed to The Associated Press. Vivian was 95.  His civil rights work stretched back more than six decades, to his first sit-in demonstrations in the 1940s in Peoria, Ill. Atlanta’s first-term mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced Monday that she and her spouse tested positive for COVID-19 with no symptoms.  The 50-year-old Democrat indicated that “COVID-19 has literally hit home.  She told news and media outlets that she decided her family members should get tested again because her husband “literally has been sleeping since last Thursday.” She said the only other symptoms she and her husband have been experienced are those similar to their known allergies. “We’ve taken all of the precautions that you can possibly take. President Donald Trump now has more legal problems to worry about.  An arrest warrant for Trump has been issued by Iran over the drone strike that killed a top Iranian general in January 2020.  Trump is one of 36 people Iran has issued arrest warrants for in relation to the death of Qasem Soleimani, commander of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), according to Fars, but the Tehran attorney general Ali Alqasi Mehr said Trump was at the top of the list.  Mehr claimed Trump would be prosecuted as soon as he stands down presidency after his term ends.  Soleimani…

As the pandemic worsens and cases of COVID-19 continues to rise, the Trump administration formally called on the U.S. Supreme Court to completely strike down the Affordable Care Act.  They do not have an alternate plan as the administration made the case in a legal brief filed late June that was brought by 20 Republican-led states that want to completely invalidate the law.  The justices will hear oral arguments as soon as October, which is just weeks before the general election.
