NASHVILLE, TN — A straw poll taken at the Wilson County Republican Dinner on April 7 showed Natisha Brooks, a congressional candidate for the 5th District, placed second among the five Republicans seeking the nomination.

The dinner was attended by the Wilson County Republican Executive Committee, sponsors, family and friends. In attendance with Brooks was her assistant, her campaign manager and her son, Miles Brooks, Jr., an attorney for Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Each candidate got five minutes to share why they were the right person to send to Washington, D.C as Tennessee’s next congressperson.

After the straw poll the results showed that Andy Ogles came in first place with 110 votes, with Brooks right behind him in second place with 55 votes. Several people came up to Brooks after the event to shake her hand and talk to her.

Brooks said that the Wilson County GOP dinner was well attended with over 450 guests. “This is the most attended event I’ve been to since attending GOP dinners. The energy was definitely high amongst the Republicans,” she said.

Brooks said she would have liked to see more young people invited and sponsored to attend the dinner. “These dinners are too expensive for young people trying to put themselves through college or helping with their families.” Brooks said she would also like to see local minority ministers invited as well. “It’s time for Republicans to get serious about getting minorities to their party.”

Even though the event had music, Brooks wished that there was more variety of music. “Play music that everyone wants to hear—it’s not all about country music. Some Motown music won’t hurt anyone!”

Since the straw poll went so very well, Brooks said she is very confident with her chances. “I’m confident that we will win this race with the endorsement of everyone in the district.”

She encourages everyone to visit Natishaforcongress2022.org and press The Coffee Mug. “Listen to podcast—NPA ‘Natisha’s Political Advice.’ “Others in the race have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, and we are doing a grass roots campaign and to come in second place against high profile names, we’re so excited about our performance.”

The new 5th district includes parts of Davidson County (Antioch, Brentwood, Davidson, Brentwood, Williamson, and Bellevue);  parts of Williamson County; parts of Wilson – Mt. Juliet;  all of Marshall County; all of Maury County and all of Lewis County.

Natisha Brooks will be in Marshall County Lewisburg, TN on April 28, 2022 from 5:00 pm to 7:00pm for the Marshall County GOP dinner. A list of other events Brooks will be attending are as follows:
