For 30 years, you have looked to The Tennessee Tribune to bring you stories about the Black community that no one else is telling. Join us as we launch the “Pressing On: Black Journalism Matters 360,” a campaign celebrating the vision of Mrs. Rosetta Miller Perry, founder and publisher, who started the newspaper in 1991.
The Tribune is proud to walk in the legacy and traditions of the Black press by amplifying and uplifting the stories of our community whether locally, statewide or across the nation. Our team holds fast to our commitment to provide objective commentary and present stories often sidestepped by major media outlets, stories that are important to our people like:
• The competitive selection of the first African American Director of Metro Nashville Schools
• The inception of some of the most prominent African American spaces in the country: the Hattiloo Theatre in Memphis; the Beck Cultural Exchange Center in Knoxville and the Bessie Smith Cultural Center in Chattanooga
• The opportunities and challenges our Historically Black Colleges and Universities are facing
• The disproportionate impact of the coronavirus on our community
• The value and significance of the Black vote and other issues of social justice
