NASHVILLE, TN — The Nashville Chapter of Les Gemmes 17th annual Literary Luncheon is filled with Hit Makers.  From the phenomenal co-chairs, the Honorable Karen Johnson and the dynamic co-chair Dr. Candra Clariette, as well as the nearly 50 chapter members.  The hits just keep on coming.

The Literary Luncheon is about literature, reading, writing, comprehension, and the arts and crafts of our creative sides.  Therefore, this year’s theme, “Celebrating Our Stories…Empowering Our Future,” speaks to that cause.  This theme is just another hit.

The featured author and former journalist, Reshonda Tate, as pinned more than 50 books and two of them have been made into movies.  She uses words that shows images and gives us words to imagine and reimagine situation for our personal lives.  Without a doubt, she is a hit maker.

The individual who will keep the show moving, is WSMV (Channel 4) news reporter and anchor Danielle Ledbetter. Ledbetter grew up in the Atlanta, GA area and has developed a loyal audience for her reporting and her anchor post.  One of her stellar assignments at a station in Augusta, GA was covering the Masters and the World Series. Another hit maker for the luncheon.

Special entertainment features Fisk Jubilee Singers alumni, Kim Fleming and her band, many of whom are also former Fisk Jubilee singers’. She is a Grammy nominated vocalist and a highly sought-after performer, who does background work with practically every studio in Nashville. She is also a featured vocalist on the Bobby Jones Gospel program broadcast on a nationally syndicated network.    This star vocalist is another Hit maker for the star-studded luncheon.

The rhythm of the moment will be ushered in by the African Drum Corp.  This event, which annually features African Attire for attendees, will help the audience feel the spirit of the Motherland.  The group will open the program with African music and dance. This is truly a Hit Maker.

“When you experience this year’s Literary Luncheon, you will know “The Hits Just Keep on Coming,” said chair, Karen Johnson.

The Literary Luncheon will be Saturday, May 18, beginning at 11:30 am at the Music City Center in Downtown Nashville.

“This annual event is designed as a fund-raiser for the Lighting the Path for Girls Initiative.  They are referred to as Jewels, young ladies from the age of 13 to college, to expose them to greater opportunities and to make good choices for their lives.

Finally, you can make a Big Hit by being a vendor. If you have books, arts and craft items, or other specialty crafts, please contact René Whittaker and inquire about being a vendor. You may email her at mrenew45@gmail.com.  You may call her at 615-838-6164
