NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nashville’s new women’s professional basketball team will unveil its official name, logo and identity Tuesday, Sept. 15, during a free public event at Vanderbilt University’s Memorial Gymnasium.
The UPSHOT Nashville team reveal will begin at 6 p.m. and will give fans, members of the community, media and Metro Nashville Public Schools students a first look at the identity Nashville’s new professional team will carry onto the court.
The event will also feature women’s basketball legends Cheryl Miller, Chamique Holdsclaw and Cathy Bender. Holdsclaw, a newly inducted Women’s Basketball Hall of Famer and former Tennessee Lady Vol, and Bender, a Tennessee Sports Hall of Famer, will participate in a conversation about Tennessee’s basketball legacy and the arrival of professional women’s basketball in Nashville. Miller, one of the most influential players in women’s basketball history, will also attend.
The unveiling represents a major step toward the launch of Nashville’s new team and adds another chapter to Tennessee’s longstanding connection to women’s basketball. The state has produced celebrated players, championship programs and generations of fans who have helped shape the women’s game.
The team name and logo reveal will be held at Memorial Gymnasium at Vanderbilt University in Nashville. The event is free and open to the public, but attendees are asked to RSVP in advance.
