The new year is a time for new beginnings. Many of us made resolutions to eat better, exercise more, and lead healthier lifestyles in 2019. According to Business Insider, 80% of these resolutions are broken by February! Make this the year that you stick to your resolution to get healthy by following these tips:

Eat smart, not less

A healthy diet doesn’t mean you have to starve yourself. Make sure you are getting a good balance of fruits, veggies, protein, and carbs to give your body energy.

Create an exercise plan you can commit to

If your goal is to be able to walk three miles, start with one. Slowly work your way up to your goal by committing to walking 10 or 15 minutes a day, two or three times a week. You are the best person to make the decision about what is do-able for you, so choose a plan you can stick to.

Stay hydrated

It’s easy to forget to drink enough water during the cooler months – but it’s not any less important than it is during summer! Staying hydrated helps fight fatigue, eases back and joint pain, protects and cushions vital organs, and can help prevent many healthy issues.

Find a Support System

Journey to Wellness is a program offered to Faith Family Medical Center patients at no cost. This 6-week program includes a mock grocery store tour on how to shop; encourages basic exercise routines, which are practiced in class; and provides a support system to help you accomplish your wellness goals, whatever they may be.
