    100 Black Women Hosts 24th Annual ‘Sister for Sister’ Conference

    NASHVILLE, TN — The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Metropolitan Nashville Chapter held its 24 th  annual Sister For Sister Leadership Conference, “Uniting Black Woman for Multigenerational Success,” on June 10 at the Renaissance Nashville Hotel.  The sold out event also included the Susan Short Jones Emerging Leader Awards.

    “The Sister For Sister Conference is our signature event where we seek to inform, inspire, and encourage Black women striving toward personal and professional success. The conference was a great success with over 150 attendees representing black women from all generations,” said Karen Thompson, conference chair. Attendees were treated to an inspiring opening presentation “Getting your mind right” by Dr. Quinn Gentry, CEO of Messages of Empowerment Productions, LLC. Engaged sessions led by a stellar group of moderators and panelists included “Using your Voice for Good Trouble,” “Building a Dynamic Network,” “Exhausted but Determined,” and “Creating our Next Generation of Change Agents.”

    “We were excited to celebrate accomplishments of our nominees and announce the 2023 Susan Short Jones Emerging Leader Award recipients, Sydney Y.K. Brown, Dr. Kellee Hill, Garrah Carter-Mason, and Lacie K. Dunn,” said Dr. Tonja Williams, Emerging Leader Awards Chair. Named in honor of Susan Short Jones, Chartering President of NCBW, Inc.’s Metropolitan Nashville Chapter, the Susan Short Jones Emerging Leader Awards recognize women under forty for their accomplishments and contributions in the areas of Health, Education, Community Development and Economic Development.

    The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Incorporated is a 42-year-old advocacy organization whose vision is that black women and girls will live in a world where socio-economic inequity does not exist. Thus, we advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment. As a voice for millions of black women and girls in the United States, the Coalition values inclusion, respect, racial and social justice, integrity, accountability, and collaboration.
