NASHVILLE— A bill that would require the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to test all rape kits within 30 days of receipt has died after being left out of the Governor’s budget. The bill, (HB0104), sponsored by Democrat Antonio Parkinson of Memphis, was once again not included in next year’s proposed budget. On Tuesday, the Mercury News reported on a 21-page investigative report that detailed the terrifyingly racist and abusive digital communications of “nearly two dozen” current and former Antioch, California, police officers over the span of two years. NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – State Representative Justin Jones filed a bill to change Tennessee’s gun laws three days after being sworn back into the House. The “Protect Kids Not Guns Act” was filed on April 13 by Rep. Jones, according to a tweet.
