Greensboro North Carolina–A white North Carolina official has been kicked off a city Zoning Commission after he repeatedly ignored a black woman’s request to be addressed by her doctoral title during a virtual public meeting. The Greensboro City Council unanimously voted to remove Tony Collins from the commission after his tense exchange with Dr. Carrie Rosario, an associate professor at UNC-Greensboro who holds a doctorate in public health, according to the Charlotte Observer. Nashville, TN (TN Tribune)–Thelma Harper, who represented the Tennessee Senate’s 19th District for three decades, has died. She was 80 years old. The longtime Democrat and North Nashvillian was the longest-serving woman in Tennessee State Senate history. NASHVILLE, TN (TN Tribune)–  In honor of the 2021 Earth Day global celebration, Belmont University announced the establishment of two Rob Fisher Endowed Funds for Environmental Science.
