NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Tennessee State University announced the loss of a beloved former chief of staff and vice president of administration on Wednesday.
In a Facebook post, the university said that Curtis Johnson died over Labor Day weekend. Johnson also served as an administrator at Jackson State University for more than two decades.
The university thanked Johnson for his service and said that he would be missed. Alumni, faculty and staff remember Johnson as a mentor, a team player and a strong leader. Johnson will be remembered as a loving family man and a true friend.
The university’s office of alumni relations posted resources for students and employees to Facebook.
“Known for being one of the first to arrive and the last to leave, Dr. Johnson was a mainstay on campus,” the post reads, in part. “During this time of tremendous loss, we are reminded of the fragility of life. Dr. Johnson touched the lives of countless students as a mentor and an inspiration.
