Congratulations to Ms. Madeline René Whittaker on her appointment by Mayor John Cooper, members of the Metropolitan City Council and Sheriff Daron Hall to the Work Release Commission.
The 12-member Commission establishes guidelines for offender participation in the

Davidson County Sheriff’s Office work/educational release program. Whittaker, a member of Les Gemmes Incorporated-Nashville Chapter, became more interested in public service after graduating in November 2019 from Sheriff Hall’s Inaugural Citizens Academy where she spent six weeks “learning about the complexities of operating jails, booking arrestees, housing inmates, and various other duties associated with the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office.”
After Whittaker was confirmed by the Metropolitan City Council at the regularly scheduled council meeting of Tuesday, February 18, 2020 she stated, “I’m excited about this opportunity and I look forward to working with my fellow board members while serving the people of Davidson County.” Whittaker was appointed to a four year term.
