By Zachary B. Wolf This is how lies turn into laws that make it harder for people to vote. The same week that a major backer of former President Donald Trump’s false election fraud narrative admitted it was unreasonable, Republican lawmakers in Georgia turned legislation inspired by the false narrative into law. Republicans didn’t like the election results in 2020, so in Georgia they’ve changed the rules to try to keep it from happening again. It’s the first presidential battleground to change voting laws since the election but it’s unlikely to be the last, with Arizona and others already considering their own restrictions. When…

Sharon Osbourne has parted ways with CBS talk show “The Talk.” The controversial host defended British talk show presenter Piers Morgan after a heated discussion about race led to his leaving “Good Morning Britain” earlier in the month. That March 10 defense landed Osbourne on the hot seat when she, too, was accused of insensitivity. CBS cited that incident as a factor in her 11-year run on “The Talk” coming to an end. “Sharon Osbourne has decided to leave The Talk. The events of the March 10 broadcast were upsetting to everyone involved, including the audience watching at home,” CBS said in a statement provided to media outlets.…

NASHVILLE, TN – Attorney Jim Roberts, a thorn in side of three mayors, dropped off 14,000 signatures to the city clerk Thursday, March 25. They were from voters who want to put a stop to Metro’s profligate spending of their tax dollars. “I fully expect Metro to pull all kinds of shenanigans to keep it off the ballot,” Roberts said. A previous effort failed when Chancery Court judge Ellen Hobbes Lyle decided a similar case in Metro’s favor. If the Davidson County Election Commission validates enough signatures this time, there will be a special referendum election June 14, 2021. “They’re…

By Robin Savannah Carver It was a warm afternoon on Fort Myer, just south of Arlington Cemetery, when my Dad said, “Living with you, it’s like that movie The Fly.” For the uninitiated, David Cronenberg’s 1986 sci-fi classic tells the graphic story of Dr. Seth Brundel, an ambitious scientist whose carelessness warps his body, twisting him into an inhuman abomination that’s put to death at the end of the film. When I got over my shock at being compared to a movie monster, a part of me felt like my Dad wasn’t too far off the mark. I was no movie monster,…

By John E. Warren, Publisher, The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint Once again, the idea of Statehood for the District of Columbia has not only come before the U.S. Congress, but has also passed the House of Representatives. Most of us know that the 700,000 plus residents of D.C. have lived under taxation without representation, the very thing that was at the heart of the Boston Tea Party of 1773. That event objected to the British taxing the colonists on tea when they had no representation in the British Parliament. While the original idea for creating D.C. as a District…
