NASHVILLE, TN — Carol Yochem, the Regional president of First Horizon, provided insights into the bank’s history, community initiatives, and plans moving forward.

“Our story began in 1864,” Yochem explained, “when Ohio businessman Frank S. Davis arrived in Memphis to open the city’s first national bank.” She emphasized Davis’s vision for banking and credit to fuel commercial growth, culminating in the establishment of First National Bank of Memphis, now known as First Horizon Bank.

In her role, Yochem oversees business growth in Nashville, Middle Tennessee, New York, Huntsville, and the Music Sports & Entertainment Group.

Regarding the bank’s 160th anniversary celebration, Yochem emphasized its significance, stating, “It’s a milestone celebration that signifies the strength and stability of our company. We remain focused and committed to our clients, associates, and communities.”

Discussing the Random Acts of Kindness program, Yochem detailed its impact during Random Acts of Kindness Week (Feb 11-17, 2024). She noted the allocation of $40,000 in VISA gift cards for associates to execute acts of kindness. These acts included paying for the coffee of someone in front or behind them, filling up gas tanks, leaving flowers with a nurse to give to a patient that would need them most, dropping off food and coffee to a nurse’s station at a local hospital, and treating first responders.

Yochem provided examples of program initiatives, including paying for coffee or lunch, filling gas tanks, and delivering treats to hospitals and fire stations.

Yochem invites readers to engage with First Horizon, stating, “Visit one of the 42 local banking centers or online at www.firsthorizon.com.” Through her leadership and the bank’s initiatives, First Horizon continues to demonstrate its commitment to community engagement and meaningful impact.
