Nashville, Tenn.- I’Ashea L. Myles, candidate for Davidson County Chancery Court, Part III, was elected on Tuesday, to serve as the next president of the Napier-Looby Bar Association.

The Napier-Looby Bar Association (NLBA), originally founded in 1933, is a bar association dedicated to the advancement and development of minority attorneys and individuals interested in issues affecting the African-American community. Its membership consists of attorneys, in the private and public sectors, as well as judges, law professors and law students. NLBA also strives to provide educational opportunities for its members and the community at large. NLBA is comprised of more than 100 attorneys throughout Middle Tennessee. The Napier-Looby Bar Association is an affiliate chapter of the National Bar Association, the oldest and largest association of attorneys of color in the world.

“Today,” Myles says, “the Association’s work is critical. We will continue to focus on our mission of supporting and developing attorneys of color in Nashville and remain committed to the advancement of initiatives that improve the economic and legal conditions of all individuals. We have a renewed commitment to fight discrimination based on racial and ethnic considerations where and whenever they occur.”

Ms. Myles has served the organization as both treasurer and president-elect. She will serve the organization as president from 2022-2023. She was named one of the 2021 Nashville Business Journal’s Women of Influence and received the Trailblazer award for her work in the industry. She was also selected for the 2021 Nashville Emerging Leaders Program and was named a 2021, 2020 and 2019 Super Lawyer and Rising Star. If elected, Myles would be the first minority female Chancellor in state’s history.
