NASHVILLE, TN — Following a national search, Metro Arts Commissioners voted unanimously at their Sept. 20 board meeting to appoint Caroline Vincent executive director of Metro Arts: the Nashville Office of Arts + Culture.

Vincent, who joined Metro Arts in 2011, assumed the duties of interim director in May 2018. With more than 17 years of experience managing public and fine art initiatives, Vincent has led the city’s public art and placemaking program as Public Art Director, administering the Percent for Art Fund and overseeing the installation of more than 40 public artworks. She managed the nation’s first Public Art Community Investment Plan process and adoption and provides national leadership as a member of the Public Art Network Council.

“Caroline has worked to grow Nashville’s public art collection and reputation as an arts-forward city, always with equity as a priority,” said Mayor David Briley. “I look forward to working with her to ensure that all Nashvillians can access and participate in the wealth of arts and culture our city has to offer.”

“After a nationwide search, the Metro Arts Commission is thrilled to recognize our very own Caroline Vincent as our new Executive Director,” said Metro Arts board chair Dr. Ruth Ross Edmonds. “Mrs. Vincent has exhibited not only the leadership qualities needed in her new role but also brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will serve the city of Nashville in the highest level.”

“I’m delighted to continue my work at Metro Arts in this new role,” said Vincent. “I look forward to the future with the support of our excellent staff, board and community stakeholders. We will continue to focus on equity, growing resources for the arts ecosystem, supporting artists and integrating art into every facet of our community.”

Metro Arts is the Nashville Office of Arts + Culture. Our mission is to drive a vibrant and equitable community through the arts. Metro Arts receives operational support from the Tennessee Arts Commission, and additional information is available online at www.artsnashville.org
