Nashville, Tenn. (TN Tribune)-This year’s top graduates of MNPS’s high schools have only just begun to impress and amaze their many admirers.

The valedictorians and salutatorians of the Class of 2024 are on their way to some of the top colleges and universities in the city, state and nation after they graduate in the next few weeks. They plan to study biochemistry and biomedical engineering, nursing and neuroscience, political science and psychology, engineering and education, fashion design and finance.

“Our valedictorians and salutatorians have shown not just their brilliance, curiosity and academic skills but also quite a lot of tenacity and resilience to reach this point,” Director of Schools Dr. Adrienne Battle said. “They are creative and critical thinkers. They are athletes and artists. They are leaders in their classrooms, in their organizations, in their career academies, and on the playing fields across the district. And these students are going places – important places where they will continue to do meaningful work.

“It’s not surprising, but it is inspiring to think about how our schools, from teachers and principals to academy coaches, school counselors, AVID teachers, college and career coaches, GEAR UP team members and other support staff, have helped prepare these students – and how these students have also prepared themselves to meet this moment and move to the next stage of their lives.”

The valedictorians and salutatorians are heading to college at Yale and Pennsylvania, Vanderbilt and Vassar, Belmont, Fisk, Lipscomb, Tennessee State, Nashville State, Middle Tennessee State, Volunteer State, Memphis, Tennessee Tech and the University of Tennessee-Knoxville – with the list of destinations set to grow as more make their final decisions.

They are aspiring public servants, nonprofit founders, physicians, teachers, scientists, researchers, business leaders. One plans to be an FBI agent; another wants to be a radiologist; one will study animation.

And one school’s valedictorian and salutatorian know each other especially well: The top two graduates of Hillsboro High School this year are twin sisters.

We’ll share more photos of each high school’s top two graduating students on MNPS’s social media in the weeks ahead. In the meantime, check out this list of our valedictorians and salutatorians from the Class of 2024.

Congratulations on a job extremely well done, vals and sals!
