NASHVILLE, TN — Following its largest event in the past 17 years with over 2,200 in attendance, the Music Business Association (Music Biz) has announced that its Annual Music Biz Conference will remain in Music City through 2021 at the recently opened JW Marriott Nashville. Music Biz 2019 will take place May 5-8, with Music Biz 2020 and 2021 following May 11-14, 2020 and May 10-13, 2021, respectively.

“We couldn’t be more excited to officially welcome The Music Business Association and their marquee annual conference Music Biz, to Nashville’s newest luxury hotel, JW Marriott Nashville, over the next three years. The Music Business Association and JW Marriott Nashville embody a unique synergy that will serve to elevate an already impactful forum for music industry leaders and will no doubt leave both members and guests informed and inspired,” said Lukus Kindlesparker, General Manager, of the JW Marriott in Nashville.

The Music Biz Conference first came to Nashville in 2015, and has continued to grow year-over-year while maintaining its trademark high level of educational programming and featured keynote speakers. The Conference continues to draw an ever-increasing representation from the global music business community, with Music Biz 2018 bringing attendees from 17 countries outside of the US to Music City.

“Music Biz owes a great deal of thanks for the support of former mayors Karl Dean and Megan Barry and now Mayor David Briley, as well as the Nashville Convention & Visitors’ Bureau and the Nashville music community, all of whom have made us feel so welcome in Nashville and have made the process of bringing our Conference to their city so effortless,” offered Music Biz President James Donio. “Nashville has become a hotbed of activity for all aspects of the industry, making it the perfect place for the global content, commerce and creative communities to gather and discuss how our industry can continue to drive collective prosperity.”

In addition to bringing the global music community to Music City for the annual event, many of Music Biz’s largest members have opened offices in Nashville or worked to expand their presence in the city including Amazon, Apple, Google/YouTube, Pandora and Spotify.

“The impact Nashville has had on the growth of our annual event coupled with the economic investment our members continue to make in Music City make Music Biz and Nashville a perfect pairing,” added Donio.

The Music Business Association (Music Biz) is a membership organization that advances and promotes music commerce – a community committed to the full spectrum of monetization models in the industry. It provides common ground by offering thought leadership, resources, and unparalleled networking opportunities, all geared to the specific needs of its membership. Music Biz brings a unique perspective and valuable insight into the trends and changes that innovation brings. Today, we put our collective experience to work across all delivery models: physical, digital, mobile, and more. Music Biz and its members are committed to building the future of music commerce – together.

Music Biz 2019 takes place May 5-8 at the elegant JW Marriott in the heart of downtown Nashville. The music industry’s premier event, the Music Biz Conference offers a platform for the commerce, content, and creative sectors to network, get on the cutting edge of the latest trends, and meet with trading partners. Attendees can look forward to keynote presentations from influential industry trailblazers including Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, RIAA Chairman and CEO Mitch Glazier, and CEO of Def Jam Recordings Paul Rosenberg. In addition, the Music Biz Awards & Hall of Fame Dinner event is set for Tuesday, May 7, and is sponsored by BuzzAngle Music, City National Bank, Cracker Barrel, Jammber, and TiVo. Announced thus far, Bebe Rexha and Kane Brown will receive Breakthrough Artist Awards, Sony Music Nashville Chairman and CEO Randy Goodman will receive the Presidential Award for Outstanding Executive Achievement, Record Archive owners Richard Storms and Alayna Alderman will accept the Independent Spirit Award, The Orchard Co-Founder Richard Gottehrer will receive the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Darius Rucker will accept the Harry Chapin Memorial Humanitarian Award. More program and awards announcements will be made in the coming weeks. For the most up-to-date conference information, visit musicbiz2019.com.
