NASHVILLE, TN —The Nashville Fire Department is mourning the loss of longtime NFD firefighter Retired Assistant Chief Jerry Smith.
Chief Smith passed on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 surrounded by family and friends.
Following retirement Chief Smith returned to work part-time with the Nashville Office of Emergency Management managing the Emergency Support Unit.
Director Chief William Swann Statement:
“This is a sad day for the entire Nashville Fire Department and the Nashville Office of Emergency Management as we mourn the loss of Retired Assistant Chief Jerry Smith. Chief Smith was a dedicated member of the NFD and OEM. His work in our department is a legacy that will continue for many years to come. Our prayers are with his wife Crystal, his children, grandchildren and all of us at NFD who loved him.”
