The 2021 Ford Escape offers drivers the best of both worlds, when it comes to fuel efficiency and the latest in automotive technology.

To help conserve fuel, the 1.5L engine can sense when a cylinder isn’t needed and shut it down, deactivating or activating it in milliseconds to maintain a seamless ride. This engine also features Auto Start-Stop Technology that can help reduce fuel consumption and vehicle tailpipe emissions when the vehicle is fully stopped. This turbocharged gem works with the quick-shifting 8-speed automatic transmission to offer spirited acceleration and robust passing power.

The Ford Escape® Hybrid models combine a 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine with an electric traction motor and an electric Continuously Variable Transmission (eCVT). They can travel at a top speed of 85 mph3 while in electric-only mode. Plus, they feature electric launch for an engaging driving experience. You can drive Plug-in Hybrid5 models in EV (Electric Vehicle) mode when the battery is charged. A driver’s side charge port and 120-volt charging cord help make charging easy. This powertrain includes the 2.5L Atkinson-cycle I-4 engine as well, so you can drive on gas power even if you run out of charge.

Ford Escape® lets you create the drive experience you desire, or the one that conditions demand, with easy-to-use Selectable Drive Modes. Choose your mode and the system adjusts traction control, steering and pedal response. Modes are:  Normal, Slippery, Eco, Sport and Deep Snow/Sand.

Every Ford Escape® offers a roomy front-row experience that includes a streamlined center console and nicely calibrated rotary gear shift dial. Available heated sport contour front bucket seats and an available heated steering wheel offer extra comfort on chilly days. The available 12.3” digital instrument cluster (shown above) features a configurable display and 3D animations. Vehicle speed and other vital information can be projected onto a 6” wide screen just above the steering wheel by the available head-up display.  Plus, there’s a B&O™ Sound System that uses 10 high performance speakers to transform 575 watts of digitally processed sound into pure audio bliss.

The Ford Escape seats up to 5 adults comfortably, with a total passenger volume of up to 104 cu. ft.1.  If even more space is needed, slide the rear seats fully forward to create up to 37.5 cu. ft. of cargo space behind them. You can also fold both sections of the 60/40 split rear seats down for up to 65.4 cu. ft. of max. cargo space. To help keep items out of sight, the easy-access cargo shade rises and lowers along with the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate.

    THE NUMBERS:  MSRP/starting at $38,885 — MPG: (combined electricity/gasoline) 105 mpgE  – Gasoline only 40 mpg (city & highway)
