For more than 50 years, drivers have enjoyed the reliability, fuel efficiency, safety, and value the Corolla brings. Toyota has now extended the line by introducing the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE AWD. It’s the compact crossover vehicle with cargo capacity based on the legendary Corolla sedan.

The 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross is available in front-wheel drive (FWD) brings a 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine. The Corolla Cross models deliver the combination of modern, high-quality features. The high-strength TNGA-C platform offers a higher line of sight. The Corolla Cross has a distinctive black grille flanked by LED lighting with black body accents, and an integrated rear spoiler and LED lighting in the back.  There’s 18-inch alloy wheels, and for additional ease of use, there’s an optional power liftgate with height adjustability. Other available accessories include a roof rack with crossbars and an activity mount for carrying items like bikes.

Toyota’s Dynamic Torque Control system directs up to half the power to the rear wheels, then completely disengages when that power isn’t needed. This helps deliver fuel economy estimates that are truly strong for a powertrain.

Inside, there’s more than enough spaciousness, while still being familiar for Corolla sedan and hatchback drivers. Bring in the great outdoors with a power moonroof. Keep yourself and passengers comfy with single- or dual-zone automatic climate control with vents for rear seat passengers. SofTex-trimmed seating is also available, as well as a 10-way, power-adjustable driver’s seat with lumbar and heated front seats. All-weather floormats protect your Corolla Cross, and in back, the real star of the show. Storage space can be maxed out with 60/40-split folding rear seats, standard on all grades plus, there’s a center armrest with two cupholders plus, features a new torsion beam system in the rear.  Towing additional gear is no problem since every Corolla Cross can tow up to 1,500 lbs.

In addition to the 169-horsepower, 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine, the 2022 Toyota Corolla Cross brings Direct Shift CVT over from Corolla sedan’s sportier “S” grades. A physical first gear gives drivers an authentic driving experience while delivering impressive efficiency. There’s a 2.0-Liter 4-Cylinder engine with 169 hp Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT;)  (FWD) or available All-Wheel Drive (AWD), if needed. All XLE models come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite of advanced active safety systems.

Toyota’s signature STAR Safety System features Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert are standard with the XLE, there’s Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking that’s standard on XLE. Nine, (that’s right nine) airbags are mounted throughout the cabin so your whole crew is always literally surrounded by exquisitely designed safety features.

    THE NUMBERS:  MSRP/from $26,575  —  MPG:  Up to 31/City  –  Hwy/33
