NASHVILLE, TN — Jamie Foxx has teamed with actress Cameron Diaz in two previous films, among them the football-themed “Any Given Sunday” and “Annie.” But Diaz had been in retirement since 2014. However, she is now not only ending her retirement, but will be teaming with Foxx again for an action film that will be screened on Netflix.

The announcement was made this week, though there remain some details still to be released. At this time the plot hasn’t been disclosed. But it is set that Seth Gordon will direct, and the script is being written by Brendan O’Brien.

Beau Bauman is under Good One Productions, as is Gordon for Exhibit A. Foxx, Datari Turner, O’Brien and Mark McNair also exec produce. Foxx talked about the project and Diaz’s involvement in a recent post on Twitter

He provided audio of a conversation he had with Diaz and Tom Brady.

“I don’t know how to do this, you know?” Diaz said while talking about coming out of retirement. “I was talking to Jamie, and he said you needed a few tips on how to unretire. And I am relatively successful and unretiring,” said Brady.

Diaz then added more information on Instagram,  saying, “Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!” Some of Diaz’s past films include “The Mask,” “”Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,” “Charlie’s Angels,” “Gangs of New York,” “Shrek 2,” “Shrek The Third,” and “Shrek Forver.”

Foxx won an Oscar Award for his portrayal of Ray Charles in 2004’s “Ray.” He’s been in several other films, among them “Django,” “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” “Collateral,” “Soul,” and “Just MNercy.”

Netflix has not yet announced a release date.
