Zindzi Thompson, who is now 21, will become the youngest black female graduate in Meharry's History

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A student who started school at Meharry Medical College when she was just 16 years old will walk across the stage this weekend, making her the youngest Black female to graduate in the school’s history.

Zindzi Thompson, who is now 21, comes from a long line of Meharry graduates.

When she was 13 years old, she enrolled in a gifted program at Mary Baldwin University in Virginia. She was one of 20 gifted young women selected to earn a four-year degree through the program.

Zindzi went to Meharry at age 16 to continue her family’s legacy and call the school her alma mater. She’ll graduate on Saturday alongside fellow classmates.

Her summer plans include a psychiatry residency program at Washington University Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Congratulations, Zindzi!
