Nashville, TN – Beloved middle school teacher Alex Lute is set to “Flip the Switch” for the  6th Annual iteration of Lute’s Lights at sundown on Saturday, November 30. This year’s event features more than 900 unique blow molds, 30,000 lights and a walk-thru path of “Christmas Legends.” The monthlong Christmas wonderland serves as a fundraiser and community drop spot for winter coats, school uniform clothing and pantry items for local nonprofit UniCycle, which works alongside the MNPS HERO Program, supporting 4,500 students in unstable housing with services from enrollment and transportation assistance to new school shoes, clothing and basic needs.

    “Flip the Switch” Details:

    • The well-attended lighting ceremony marks the kickoff to the festive display. Last year nearly 200 guests gathered in Lute’s Bellevue front yard.
    • Date and Time: Saturday, November 30, 2024. Gathering begins at 6:00 PM, with lights on at approximately 6:15 PM.
    • Location: 317 Harpeth Valley Rd., Nashville, TN

The ceremony will feature a musical performance, hot cocoa, and an opportunity for attendees to take pictures with Santa. In addition to clothing and food items collected for the entire month of December, donations can also be made via QR code signage onsite or through a Community Fund donation page here.

Last year, the event raised nearly $3,400 for students and collected more than 1,000 clothing or food items. Items accepted for donation include gently-used or new coats and school uniform components including polo-style shirts and khaki, black or navy pants, shorts and skirts in all sizes, through adult. Food items needed include microwave-in-cup meals such as oatmeal, pasta, rice and potato items, pre-cooked pasta, pasta sauce, canned chicken, snacks including Goldfish, Welch’s Fruit Snacks, breakfast bars of all kinds and Ramen Noodles.
