    WHERE:          MWCHC, 1035 14th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208

DETAILS:         Free drive-thru COVID tests and PPE for patrons in recognition of National Health Center Week
    (limit to 100 people).

National Health Center Week (Aug. 9 – 15) is an annual celebration with the goal of raising awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America’s health centers over the past five decades. As the country’s largest primary care network, Community Health Centers are the health care home for 30 million Americans in over 14,000 communities across the nation. One in every 12 people in the United States gets their care in a Community Health Center. Matthew Walker was established in Nashville in 1968 and is the oldest federally-funded center named after a Black American the country.

This year’s National Health Center Week theme is “Lighting the Way for Healthier Communities,” and MWCHC is taking the opportunity to highlight the frontline workers at their clinics who have provided that light for patients across Middle Tennessee. NHCW staff events will include employee highlights on all clinic television screens, special lunches, and much more.

“We are honored to celebrate National Health Center Week with great community partners,” said Katina Beard, MWCHC CEO. “It’s also a great opportunity to give back to our incredible staff, who have remained devoted to providing vital health care to the entire region throughout the COVID pandemic.”

While MWCHC typically hosts its annual Pancake Breakfast & Block Party during National Health Center Week, this year’s unique circumstances have led the organization to provide revised services to meet community needs. MWCHC will provide back-to-school supplies for children grades K-6 via drive-thru pickup between 10am-Noon on Aug. 13. They will also offer free drive-thru COVID tests and PPE for up to 100 community members between 9am-12pm on August 14.

MWCHC is now providing immunizations for children ages 4-6 years old. Immunizations will be free for those uninsured, and all insurances are accepted. Patients are encouraged to bring the child’s immunization records.

Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center is a non-profit medical center providing affordable and quality healthcare to patients in Middle Tennessee and surrounding areas. MWCHC is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art care to all patients regardless of economic status, with its three facilities in Nashville, Clarksville and Smyrna reaching 17,000 patients a year.
