NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville General Hospital opened on April 23, 1890 as City Hospital on Hermitage Avenue with one physician, seven nurses and 60 beds. The hospital’s mission was to provide health care services to the desperately ill or those persons unable to care for themselves. The hospital has fulfilled this mission over the last 129 years provided quality healthcare to the Nashville community, regardless of their ability to pay.

This month, NGH celebrated their 129th Anniversary and 77th Annual Employee Service Awards program with Nashville Mayor, David Briley, Metro Councilmembers, hospital staff and community and faith leaders.
