Nashville General Hospital Offers Weekend-Only Urgent Care in Bordeaux

Nashville, TN, (TN Tribune) — Nashville General Hospital (NGH), Middle Tennessee’s essential public hospital serving Nashville and Davidson County, recently opened its new Weekend-Only Urgent Care Center at its Nashville Healthcare Center location in Bordeaux. Designed to meet the needs of patients with non-life-threatening conditions, the center provides accessible and timely care on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. The urgent care facility is located at 4007 Clarksville Hwy., Nashville, TN and offers the community a convenient healthcare solution when primary care doctor offices are closed.

This urgent care center is a part of NGH’s commitment to expanding access to wrap-around healthcare services while alleviating unnecessary strain on local emergency departments. Staffed by board-certified emergency medical providers, the urgent care is equipped to handle a wide range of illnesses and injuries that do not require the full resources of a hospital emergency room (ER).

What’s the Difference Between Urgent Care and the ER?

Understanding when to visit the emergency room versus urgent care is critical to receiving the right level of care. Here’s a simple guide:

Visit the ER for life-threatening conditions, including:

    ·        Chest pain or difficulty breathing

    ·        Severe burns or head injuries

    ·        Stroke symptoms, such as numbness or slurred speech

    ·        Uncontrolled bleeding

    ·        Sudden, severe pain (e.g., in the abdomen)

    ·        Loss of consciousness

In such cases, call 911 or go to the ER immediately for advanced, life-saving treatment.

Visit urgent care for non-life-threatening issues, such as:

    ·        Minor cuts, sprains, or fractures

    ·        Cold and flu symptoms

    ·        Allergic reactions

    ·        Ear infections

    ·        Urinary tract infections (UTIs)

    ·        Mild asthma or respiratory issues

    ·        Rashes or skin infections

Urgent care is an excellent choice for patients who need prompt medical attention but don’t require the extensive services provided by an ER.

Dr. DeAnn Bullock, NGH Director of Emergency Services, emphasizes, “Our goal is to provide a more accessible option for patients in our community with non-emergent conditions, particularly on weekends when many primary care offices are closed. This way, we can help ensure that our emergency department remains focused on making sure our most critically ill patients get the rapid care they need.”

The Weekend-Only Urgent Care Center is currently seeing patients. No appointments are necessary, and walk-ins are welcome. Most major insurance plans are accepted including no-copays for those participating in the Nashville Healthcare Incentive Program, and self-pay options are available as well.
