Neighborhood Health Encourages Residentsto Get Vaccinated, Boosted Against COVID-19

NASHVILLE, TN — Due to increasing COVID-19 cases, Neighborhood Health is encouraging all Middle Tennesseans to get vaccinated or boosted right away to have protection from the spike that is coming. The CDC reported that the Omicron variant now accounts for more than 95% of COVID cases in the Southeast, which is up from 37% in the previous week.

Nationally, COVID cases have increased roughly 30% in the past two weeks, and Metro Public Health is already seeing an increase in the number of new cases when compared to just 5 days ago. Neighborhood Health and its community partners are working to make sure that every person in Nashville can get vaccinated and tested for free, regardless of background or income. From CEOs and their employees to small business owners to persons experiencing homelessness, immigrants and refugees, LGBTQ residents, public housing residents, and everyone else who calls Middle Tennessee home – everyone needs to be aware and be prepared.

More than 1,200 Nashvillians have died of COVID, about 120,000 adults in Nashville still have yet to be vaccinated – and many of the 420,000 adults who have been vaccinated still need booster shots. Health care providers are exhausted due to the continuing health crisis and are begging for help from citizens to reduce these numbers.

Neighborhood Health offers free COVID vaccinations and booster shots each weekday at the Downtown Clinic on a walk-up basis, and will include a free flu shot and free pneumonia shot for those who wish to receive additional protection against winter illnesses.  Neighborhood Health also offers free COVID vaccinations and booster shots at the Inglewood Clinic in East Nashville and the Welshwood Clinic in South Nashville.  Free rapid testing is also available at the Downtown, Inglewood and Welshwood clinics.  Call 615-227-3000 to make a same-day or next-day appointment.  Neighborhood Health will even provide free rides.

More than 140 locations in Davidson County are currently providing free COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters, including Neighborhood Health clinics, Metro Public Health sites, and retail pharmacy locations.  Many locations open as early as 7:00 a.m. and many are open on evenings and weekends.

Visit www.neighborhoodhealthtn.org or nashville.gov/departments/health for more information.

Neighborhood Health, formerly United Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., has proudly served the people of Middle Tennessee for more than 44 years without regard to their insurance status or ability to pay. Today, we provide medical, prenatal, dental and behavioral health care to over 31,000 people of all ages, 59% of whom have no health insurance. Because of the trust earned with patients, Neighborhood Health has become the largest safety net provider of primary care in Middle Tennessee.
