Memphis, TN (TN Tribune)–Sally Badoud has been named the vice chancellor for communications and marketing at UTHSC. She is shown here at the UT Board of Trustees meeting that was held in Memphis in June.

Sally Badoud, MBA, has been named vice chancellor for the Office of Communications and Marketing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.

Badoud has served as assistant vice chancellor for communications and marketing since joining UTHSC in 2016. A creative and strategic leader, she has more than 20 years of experience in branding, communications, design, management, organizational change, and marketing for organizations in higher education.

At UTHSC, Badoud leads a team of writers, designers, production, and digital media professionals, who promote and support the university with communications, media relations, marketing, graphic design (print and digital), photography, website design and content creation, and social media. She also has taken a lead role in managing campus events and gatherings for the university.

Additionally, Badoud oversees communications and marketing efforts across UTHSC’s six colleges. She was honored recently by the UTHSC Faculty Senate with its Administrator of the Year for 2020-2021. She also works closely with communicators throughout the UT System to support UT President Randy Boyd’s Be One UT initiative.

Since joining UTHSC, Badoud has updated internal and external communications for the university. She has improved the campus’ digital signage system, email messaging platforms, website, and events calendar. As a graphic designer, she has refreshed the university’s logo and branding guidelines. She has designed wayfinding signage in the Historic Quadrangle courtyard, with plans to expand that across campus. She has also worked with vendors to create custom UTHSC scrubs and implement a standard for white coat and scrub embroidery.

Badoud directed the university’s successful campaign for a UTHSC license plate, which raises funds for academic programs. She played a lead planning role in the inaugural UTHSC Giving Day in 2021.

Badoud earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a graphic design focus at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. She also earned an MBA at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and holds a certificate in crisis leadership in higher education from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.

“The Health Science Center was very fortunate to recruit Sally to come here almost six years ago, and she has proven to be a remarkable asset to our team,” said Ken Brown, JD, MPA, PhD, FACHE, executive vice chancellor and chief operations officer for UTHSC. “This promotion underscores her value to the University of Tennessee as a whole. Sally’s acknowledgement by the Faculty Senate and the numerous awards for the Office of Communications and Marketing under her leadership are a true reflection of the value she has added to our institution. We are fortunate to have the pleasure of working with such a colleague.”
