Trump’s false accusations against Harris pale compared to the real ones against him

Ever since the 2024 presidential campaign was dramatically changed by the exit of Joe Biden and the entrance of Kamala Harris as the presumptive Democratic nominee, Donald Trump’s usual lying rhetoric has shifted. Now it is Harris rather than Biden who’s the target of the standard Trump lies and inaccurate bluster. Along with calling her “evil” and “the most liberal, leftist candidate in history” he’s also claimed (along with some of his media flunkies) that Harris engaged in an extramarital affair with former San Francisco Mayor and State Assembly Speaker Willie Brown. Brown gave Harris two key political appointments that launched her career.

But the truth is Harris dated  Brown for a period of time between 1994 and 1995. In his capacity as speaker, Brown appointed her to two political posts — first, to the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board, and then to the Medical Assistance Commission. But although Brown was technically still married during the time period he dated Harris, he had been estranged from his wife Blanche Brown for more than a decade. Harris’ first successful run for office in 2003 happened well after the relationship ended, and Harris has long distanced herself from Brown and that period.

Compare that to the lengthy Trump PROVEN track record of offenses. Start with him being found guilty of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records to cover up an alleged extramarital affair with a porn star. A jury  heard the evidence and convicted him, no matter how much he and his minions claim he didn’t do anything wrong. That comes on top of an allegation that Trump sexually abused E Jean Carroll in a luxury department store dressing room in the spring of 1996. While he faced no jail time in the civil trial, he was ordered to pay $88 million total for defamation. Trump has also denied about a dozen other sexual misconduct allegations, including groping and sexual harassment, that took place before he took office. In 2017. Since these haven’t as yet been prosecuted in a court, Trump tries to wave them off as “fake news.”

In addition, his attitudes towards Black women are very evident in his public comments. Among the various lies he’s spread, he said of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis,: “She ended up having an affair with the head of the gang or a gang member.” (The claim has no evidence.)  He’s also said of Harris, “They’re saying she isn’t qualified because she wasn’t born in this country.” (Harris was born in California.). Indeed some prominent Republicans are already urging Trump to stop the personal attacks, partly because they know they are lies, but also because they reveal for those who don’t know, that he’s a sexist and racist who can’t help making these inaccurate claims because he doesn’t have any respect for Black women, even those he may be involved with romantically.

Back in 2022, one of his former girl friends Kara Young spoke out for the first time in about six years again about her relationship with Trump. Young is the daughter of a Black mother and white father. Trump told Young that she got her beauty from her mother and her intelligence from her father. She did claim it was a joke, but added that she immediately told him it was an inappropriate one. “He said I was just joking, just kidding. No, I don’t think that.” This is the equivalent of someone telling a racist joke, then claiming of course they don’t feel that way. Young has refused to make any other public comments on her relationship with Trump since that 2022 Inside Edition interview, but during that interview she also said in response to a question about whether he should run again that she didn’t think he should.

That the Republican Party has chosen to nominate for President a convicted felon who still has multiple charges pending in various courts, and a serial liar whose public comments are regularly proven untrue in newspapers and on websites coast to coast, is their business. But it’s the nation’s downfall if the electorate is foolish enough to put him back in office, especially when he makes absurd claims like he can end birthright citizenship (a constitutional right that would have to be changed via constitutional amendment), or telling Christians that they don’t need to vote if he’s back in office, as though he can somehow singlehandedly turn a secular nation into a theocracy like the Vatican.

If the stakes weren’t so high and things so serious, a person running for President with the track record of Donald Trump would be comical. But the sad reality is there are millions of Americans who don’t care what he’s done or what he says. They are so convinced he can somehow turn the clock back and return the nation to the way things were in the past that they’re willing to accept that behavior and believe those lies. Now he’s running scared because when you examine the track records of Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, his is laughable by comparison, especially when it comes to social behavior and conduct.

Kamala Harris has done nothing to be ashamed about, and most certainly deserved both the Democratic nomination and the opportunity to be the next President. Donald Trump not only isn’t fit for office, but his attempts to wrap himself around Christianity and the flag are deplorable and deserve condemnation, especially when he is willing to lie and demean someone else’s character.
