NASHVILLE, TN — The Nashville Chapter of Les Gemmes will hold its 10th Annual Literary Luncheon on Saturday, February 25 at the Airport Marriott Hotel. Hayley Mason, reporter from WSMV-Channel 4, will serve as the mistress of ceremonies for this milestone year event. It features authors from near and far. They include: Michael Days, Angela M. Hutchinson and Sandra Seaton.

Book signings and author interactions will be from 9:30-10:30 a.m. and the luncheon begins at 11 a.m.

Mason is a two-time Emmy award-winning journalist who thrives in a fast-paced environment. She most enjoys covering and uncovering news stories that affect change in communities that need it most. She strives to give a voice to the voiceless and shed light on the humanity of all people.

Hayley joined the WSMV-TV/Channel 4 news team in September 2013 as a general assignment reporter, after spending two years in Virginia and Maryland reporting and anchoring for the NBC affiliate there.

At Channel 4 News, Hayley has had the opportunity to work on a number of stories that have gained national coverage and attention. Because of her strong work ethic, communication skills and professionalism under pressure, she was selected to report in St. Louis, Missouri following the shooting death of Michael Brown– a story that sparked national movements and international news coverage. She has covered high-profile court cases including the Vanderbilt Rape Case and both trials. She has also covered the ‘peeping tom trial’ involving network sports reporter Erin Andrews.

Hayley has broken news in Nashville on several major stories.

While in Virginia, Hayley broke major news stories and covered ground-breaking cases that impacted the community, including the murder investigation and trial of a beloved city councilwoman, and a years-long embezzlement and fraud investigation into a state-funded agency for seniors and the subsequent trials. She also covered the devastating closings of several state-run child autism centers across the region.

Hayley is a graduate of Howard University, where she earned a degree in broadcast journalism, with honors. She earned a minor in jazz voice.

As a college student, Hayley interned with NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams and Lester Holt in New York City where she assisted with the coverage of the Beijing Olympics and other top national stories. She went on to intern for MSNBC in Washington, DC where she produced live shots on Capitol Hill with U.S. senators and congressmen. In her last year at Howard, she interned and went on to work for the FOX News Channel in Washington, DC.

She is president of the Nashville Chapter of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and is active locally as a member of The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, The Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Tickets to the Les Gemmes Literary Luncheon on Feb. 25 may be purchased through Event brite.com, from a Les Gemmes member or at The Tribune Building, 1501 Jefferson St., Nashville.
