NASHVILLE, TN — Remote Area Medical (RAM), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free healthcare services to underserved populations, is calling for volunteers to support its upcoming one-day dental clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. Scheduled for March 2nd, the clinic will take place at Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, aiming to deliver essential dental care to those in need.
RAM, founded in 1985 by Stan Brock, has a rich history of providing free medical, dental, and vision services to individuals who lack access to or cannot afford healthcare. Originally focused on serving remote areas in developing countries, RAM quickly expanded its operations to address the pressing healthcare needs within the United States. Today, the organization conducts more than 95 percent of its clinics domestically, exemplifying its commitment to alleviating suffering and preventing pain.
Volunteers are the backbone of RAM’s mission, with nearly 200,000 individuals contributing their time and expertise since the organization’s inception. From licensed healthcare professionals to general support staff, volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring that RAM’s clinics run smoothly and effectively. The upcoming clinic in Nashville presents an opportunity for individuals and organizations to make a tangible difference in their community by providing much-needed dental care to those who may otherwise go without.
The clinic will offer a range of dental services, including cleanings, fillings, extractions, and X-rays, all free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis. In addition to dental care, volunteers will also assist with clinic setup and takedown, greet patients, and provide interpretation services as needed.
Volunteering with RAM is open to individuals from all backgrounds, regardless of whether they work in the medical field. Those interested in participating can visit RAM’s website at www.ramusa.org or call 865-579-1530 to sign up. No ID is required, and all services provided by RAM are completely free of charge.
In addition to its ongoing clinic operations, RAM has expanded its reach through innovative programs such as free Telehealth services, which connect volunteer healthcare practitioners with patients in need of remote care. The organization also conducts disaster relief efforts, delivering essential healthcare services to communities impacted by natural disasters such as hurricanes and tornadoes.
By volunteering with RAM, individuals can make a meaningful impact on the lives of others while contributing to the organization’s mission of providing quality healthcare to those who need it most. Together, we can work towards a future where access to healthcare is a fundamental right for all.
