NASHVILLE, TN — We are excited to announce the recipient of the 2024 Michelle B. Marrs Advocate Award. She will receive the award during the Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Breakfast, happening Aug. 15 at 5 p.m.
Dr. Shanna L. Jackson has been serving Nashville State Community College as president since June 2018. Her extensive experience in administration, teaching, workforce, and community development experience is guiding the college’s mission to increase access, completion, and post-completion success for all students who come to Nashville State.
Jackson serves on the local boards of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, Urban League of Middle Tennessee, the Memorial Foundation, Ascension St. Thomas and the United Way of Middle Tennessee. In 2023, Dr. Jackson was named one of the Most Admired CEOs in Nashville by the Nashville Business Journal. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and an MBA from Florida A&M University and an Ed.D. in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University.
Her mentorship of youth throughout the region, her community leadership, and her dedication as a board member of multiple healthcare-focused organizations make her the ideal recipient of the Michelle B. Marrs Advocacy Award, and we congratulate her on this esteemed honor.
