NASHVILLE, TN — The Nashville Jazz Workshop is continuing to expand its series of community outreach events.
Their latest is a new concert series titled “Jazz In The Park.” This will be a monthly series featuring three events held at the Hadley Park Bandshell.
The series begins Friday with celebrated trumpeter and photographer Rod McGaha.
McGaha has been a fixture on the Nashville music scene for decades.
He also has a long and distinguished list of credits and collaborations. Initially discovered at a festival by legendary trumpet icon Clark Terry, McGaha has played with legendary jazz drummer Max Roach, but also country stars Kenny Roger’s and Reba McEntire among others.
Before coming to Nashville, he played with many soul and gospel greats in Chicago.
Since arriving here in the 90s McGaha has become a highly respected contributor not only as a player and bandleader, but a prolific photographer with his own studio.
But this Friday music will be the focus for Rod McGaha. His concert begins at 5:30 and continues until 7 p.m. it and all the Hadley Park Bandshell concerts are free and open to the public
