On April 2, 2022, the Nashville Capitol City Chapter’s Status of Women Thrust and Lord offered support to Lady Rosetta Miller Perry, owner of The Tennessee Tribune and visionary of the Pancakes & Politics symposium.

This established platform allowed all political candidates running for office to disseminate their information and give a clear vision of their purpose, allowing the community to get up close and personal with the candidates. Lady Janice Woodard, prayed fervently to begin the event.

Justin Jones, modern-day Black civil rights leader, introduced the keynote speaker, Dr. Benjamin F. Chavis, Jr., the African American civil rights leader and president and CEO of the National Newspaper Association, who encouraged and challenged the voters to stand boldly and be a voice for the voiceless and VOTE!

“We have a wonderful history behind us. If you are unable to demonstrate to the world that you have this record, the world will say to you, ‘You are not worthy to enjoy the blessings of democracy or anything else.” — Carter G Woodson
