NASHVILLE, TN — The last two weeks have been ones where the only constant has been change for the Nashville Predators.
Not only at the top with the impending retirement of longtime general manager David Poile, but with a flurry of trades as Poile acknowledged that the team was “taking a step backward to move forward. “
However the interesting thing has been their play in the wake of all the trades. Saturday they won their fourth straight road game and sixth in the last eight overall with a 3-1 victory I’m Chicago. That upped their record to 30-23-6. They are still in the hunt for the second wild card spot in the Western Conference despite what looked like a fire sale before the trading deadline ended on March 3.
After former Predator Seth Jones scored for Chicago on the Blackhawks first shot, Juuse Saros kept them scoreless the rest of the game.
Phillip Tomasino tied the score with a power play goal, then Tyson Barrie got his first goal as a Predator for the game winner. Colton Sissons added an empty netter late for the final margin.
But Tomasino went out late in the first period with an injury. The Predators now have Filip Forsberg, Ryan Johansen. Alex Carrier and Tomasino on the Injury list, though Forsberg has been skating with the team lately.
The Predators are 2-0 in the midst of a six game road trip that continued Monday against Vancouver.
