NASHVILLE, TN — Join the Parthenon Chapter of the Links, Incorporated on Thursday, July 28th from 6:30PM-8:30PM at the historic Belcourt Theater where we will host Nashville’s premiere screening of the award-winning documentary, Surviving Sex Trafficking. Unbeknownst to many, human trafficking includes both forced labor or services and sex trafficking. The film will bring much-needed awareness to human trafficking and dispel myths. Directed by Sadhvi Siddhali Shree, actress and activist Alyssa Milano; talk show host, Jean- nie Mai; and rapper, Jeezy are executive producers.

In 2012 President Obama referred to human trafficking as “modern day slavery,” where traffickers profit from the control and exploitation of their victims. Black and Latino children, teens and adults are dispro- portionately impacted at higher rates. Yet, no one is immune. Human trafficking occurs in every city, every county, and every zip code— including Middle Tennessee. Always responsive and on the pulse of national trends and the needs of the community, in Spring 2022 The Parthenon (TN) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated launched an initiative, “Human Trafficking: Linking for Survivorship” to address human trafficking across Black Middle Tennessee communities— which along with partner organizations and community members, we hope to eradicate.

As part of the event, Sadhvi Siddhali Shree will be our special guest and there will be a post-screening panel discussion featuring:

    • Judge Anna Escobar, General Sessions Court, Cherished Hearts (Sex Trafficking Court)

    • Stacia Freeman, President and Founder, Epic Girl

    • Sergeant Matt Dixon, Metro Nashville Police Department Human Trafficking Unit
