Sister Alma Louise Stinson is a native of Donelson, TN. She was born on April 18, 1924, in Donelson, TN (Davidson County), to the late Jerry Thomas Brooks, Sr., and Beatrice Murray Brooks.  Sister Stinson is the third oldest of eleven siblings in which six are living (2 boys and 4 girls).

She attended Davidson County public schools, graduating from Haynes High School in Nashville. Sister Stinson was married to the late Roy B. Stinson. To this union there were three sons, William and Charles who preceded her in death and Thomas who is living. She has seven grandchildren, as well as numerous great, and great- great-grandchildren.

Sister Stinson worked over 40 years at National Linen Service and retired in 1995. Throughout the course of her life, she enjoyed cooking, sewing, serving as a beautician and seamstress for her family and friends.  She acquired this skill set while attending high school in her Home Economics Class. She was an excellent cook, who also loved bowling. Sister Stinson was baptized at an early age at Evans Hills Baptist Church in Hermitage, Tennessee. During her time as a member, she sang in the choir, served as an usher, and was a treasurer in the Pastor’s Aid Committee.

In 1999, Sister Stinson moved her membership to Saint James Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of her cousin, Dr. George T. Brooks, Sr.  Over the years, Sister Stinson has served faithfully at St. James.

She attended and participated in her Sunday Church School Class on a regular basis until she developed health issues. Also, Sister Stinson is a faithful member of the Juanita Fowler Women Missionary Auxiliary with her financial support on a regular basis.  She loves her Pastor and Church family. Because of Sister Stinson’s commitment and dedication, she supports other areas of ministry as a Tither. She has exemplified true Christian character. Her humble spirit and sweet character radiate the Fruit of the Spirit: Love, Joy, Peace, Long-Suffering, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness and Meekness.

Sister Stinson has truly been a blessing to the St. James Missionary Baptist Church Family, and we love her dearly.
